Like other online companies, we receive technical information when you use our services. We use these technologies to analyze how people use our services, improve how our website functions, save your log-in information for future sessions, and serve you advertisements that may interest you. We and our third-party service providers, including analytics and third-party content providers, may automatically collect certain information from you whenever you access or interact with the service. This information may include, among other things, the browser and operating system you are using, the URL or advertisement that referred you to the service, the search terms you entered into a search engine that led you to the service, areas within the service that you visited, and other information commonly shared when browsers communicate with websites. This automatically collected log data may be combined with other information we collect about you. We do this to improve the services we offer you, including marketing, analytics, and site functionality.
The information we collect also includes the Internet Protocol (“IP”) address or other unique device identifier (“Device Identifier”) for any device (computer, mobile phone, tablet, etc.) used to access the service. Your device automatically assigns or connects to a device identifier, which our servers use to identify you. We or our third-party service providers may receive information from certain mobile service providers about the physical location of the device you use to access the service.
You do not have a statutory obligation to provide us with information, but you may have a contractual obligation to do so, or we cannot provide our service to you. If you have any questions regarding whether the provision of information is mandatory and the consequences of withholding such information, please contact us using the contact information below.
2. Analytics
We use third-party analytics tools to help us measure traffic and usage trends for the service. Your device or our service sends information to these tools, which includes the web pages you visit, any add-ons you use, and other information that aids in service improvement. We gather and combine this analytics data with data from other users to prevent any user’s identity from being conceivably discernible.
3. Cookies and other similar information
We may use cookies and similar technologies, including pixels, web beacons, and local storage, to gather information about your use of Beyond Smart Cities and offer you features when you browse the service. We may request that advertisers or other partners display ads or services on your devices. We or a third party may install cookies or similar technologies for these advertisements or services.
4: Log Information
- Each time you request access to (i.e., visit) a web page or app, your browser automatically reports log file information. You can also receive this information when you download the web page or app’s content to your browser or device.
- When you use our service, our servers automatically record certain log file information, including your web request, Internet Protocol (“IP”) address, browser type, referring and exit pages and URLs, number of clicks, how you interact with links on the service, domain names, landing pages, pages viewed, and other such information. We may also gather comparable data from emails sent to our users, enabling us to monitor which emails recipients open and which links they click. The data enables more accurate reporting and service improvement.
5: Metadata
- Metadata is usually technical data that is associated with user content. For instance, metadata can specify the method, time, and individual responsible for gathering a piece of user content, as well as the formatting of that content.
- Users can add or may have metadata added to their user content, including a hashtag (e.g., to mark keywords when you post a photo), a geotag (e.g., to mark your location in a photo), comments, or other data. This makes your user content more searchable and interactive for others. When you geotag your photo or use other people’s APIs to tag it, the system stores your latitude and longitude along with the photo, making it searchable (e.g., through a location or map feature) if you make your photo public according to your privacy settings.
